Energy Boost

Many people are trained to believe that what you eat is the most important element that helps you increase your energy. You would be surprised to know that it's actually the sixth most important.  It’s less about what you eat, and more about when you eat, why you eat, where you eat, who you eat with, and how you eat. Here are the 6 key tips focused on who, what, where, when, why and how you eat that will provide you with the blueprint for boundless energy.

Eating whenever you want is the #1 reason why people lack energy. Having a set schedule of when to eat meals and snacks, with structured flexibility, will help you increase your metabolism and ensure that your body is digesting properly.

Example schedule for your daily meals and snacks:

Breakfast 7:00 a.m.

Snack: 10:00 a.m

Lunch: 1:00 p.m.

Snack: 4:00 p.m.

Dinner: 7:00 p.m.

Snack:  2 hours before bedtime - This should be low grain and low sugar.

Do you only eat when you are hungry?  Or, do you eat to nourish your mind and body, and to optimize your energy?

Most people who eat while hungry, overeat. By overeating, the food turns into fat.

Do you graze throughout the day? When people are consistent in their eating patterns, they are consistent in their health goals, you are keeping your metabolism going, and your energy production sky rockets.

Do you eat on the go or in the car? Do you walk and eat? Are you working while you eat? Are you watching tv or even laying in bed?
Scientific research shows that digestion increases when you eat in an environment that is less stressful. This typically occurs when around family, friends or a beautiful environment.

Create peace while you eat.

Either you eat with people, or you eat by yourself. If you eat with people, ask yourself who you are surrounding yourself with. The five people that you surround yourself with the most should lift you up in life. It’s the same thing regarding the people you eat with. If you eat with unhealthy people, you will be more likely to follow their lead and eat poorly.

We are not saying that you can’t treat yourself once and a while, but sometimes you have to make unpopular decisions in order to be healthy and to create boundless energy. That means, change your lunch room buddies and change your environment if you need to.

Here are a few tips to help you feel more comfortable when eating by yourself: Try to read or listen to something inspiring. Eat in an environment that recharges you, away from your desk at work. When possible, eat outside at a park, look out the window while listening to a podcast or music.

What does the process look like? Taking 20-30 bites to chew your food and putting your fork down between every bite will help you slow down and help your body digest better. By doing this, your body will run more efficiently.

I know we said what you eat is not as important as the rest, but it is foundational.

  • Eat Clean (no processed food)
  • Eat More Veggies
  • Eat Less Sugar

By implementing these 6 habits into your eating patterns daily, you will start to gain an immense amount of energy. Ready, set, go….. slow that is, be the last one to finish your meal from now on and see your digestion improving and energy soar.
